Education Research as a Network

In yesterday’s class, Punya Mishra visited us as part of our “Parade of Scholars”.  Instead of marching bands and Shriners, this parade features program faculty who share their perspectives about research and scholarly thought.  Although there are common themes in their presentations, they each have a unique view and insights. Punya mentioned that many scholars look at research as bricks in a building a la  Forscher (1963).  He suggested a different metaphor that really resonated with me: in education research each study is a node in a network of research, and you can make infinite connections to different nodes.
